'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' featuring Pike, Spock, and Number One is Coming to CBS All Access!
Star Trek fans were delighted to hear that an old-school Star Trek series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been ordered for the CBS All Access streaming network. In response to the way Star Trek: Discovery handled the prequel material, ST: SNW (are we the first to use the acronym? probably, but probably like, not) focuses on Anson Mount’s Captain Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock on The Enterprise realizing Roddenberry’s original vision for the characters.
“Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck’s portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek: Discovery last season,” said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, CBS All Access. “This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek.” .
We’re fans of Star Trek: Discovery but not all old school fans of TOS and TNG felt the same. With Discovery now set in the far future (a risk we are glad they are taking), SNW will be set 10 years before Captain James Tiberius Kirk steps on to the bridge.
