After learning from a derelict that Boomer has taken a job as a Santa Claus at Lee's Department Store, Batman realizes Boomer has got the job to help somebody knock over the store. "Wanted: Santa Claus - Dead or Alive!" (1979): This is Frank Miller's first Batman story and it's a wild one. It follows Boomerang, a reformed ex-con who takes a job as a mall Santa Claus as part of a plan with his old gang to rob the place after hours. However, his conscience gets the better of him and he tries to back out, putting him in the crosshairs of both his former friends and Batman. The story is full of gritty action, dark humor, and a surprisingly emotional core about second chances and the meaning of Christmas.
